  • 1870 Kogarah Public School established in a church building (St Paul's Church of England)

    School moves to its present site and first building erected
    1881
    Public Instruction Act
    1891
    First two-storey school building erected, and School declared a Superior Public School
    1911
    State High School system begins
    1913
    Commercial and Domestic Science (Secondary) Departments established
    1816
    St George Girls' High established as a separate school
    1920
    Kogarah Boys' Intermediate High gazetted
    1921
    Three-storey building facing Regent Street is completed
    1936
    Kogarah Girl' Home Science School gazetted
    1959
    Home Science School renamed Kogarah Girls' High School
    1962
    Introduction of the Wyndham Scheme, and Intermediate High School renamed Kogarah Boys' High School
    1963
    Girls' and Boy' High Schools merge to form Kogarah High School
    Alan Dixon gathered and met deaf students in deaf primary schools southern and northern area
    1964
    Deaf unit classes being created for deaf students
    1971
    New library opened
    1973
    School fired burned most of the building
    1974
    Industrial arts block opened
    Diana and Lynette Sumner twin sisters first students to complete Year 11 schooling

    Sign language allowed to be used by the students in everyday conversation

    Assembly Hall opened

    Richard Hills first deaf student to complete Year 12 schooling

    Administration's block completed

    Sports girl of the year award - Julie Page deaf pupil on the Notice board in the Assembly Hall
    1984
    Deaf classes are mainstreamed into all hearing classes
    1985
    Interpreter first being used in the hearing classes setting got deaf students as a trail period for a year

    25th anniversary of Kogarah High School Deaf Unit
    1997
    Dux of School - Todd Wright first deaf pupil as dux of the school on the Notice board in the Assembly Hall
    2014
    50th anniversary of Kogarah High School Deaf Unit
